The Marble Chain of Lakes
Improvement Association, Inc.
Season 2006 Newsletter
A MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT:
Welcome back from our rather strange 2005/06 winter. It has been unseasonably warm or unseasonably cold, but definitely not what we’d expect from a Michigan off-season. The Marble Chain of Lakes Association has kept busy this winter, and the addition of our website headlines the changes we’ve made.
This past year the association, along with Creative Web Designing, has developed a web site devoted to The Marble Chain of Lakes. The web site will allow association members, lake residents, and other interested people to learn what we have to offer on the Marble Chain of Lakes. The website, found at www.marblechainoflakes.org, owes its creation and support in large part to the sponsorship we’ve received from local businesses, and we’d like to take this opportunity to thank those that made our expansion into the virtual world possible.
Our new site makes it easy for people to stay in touch and up to date with what we in the association are planning and doing to ensure the quality of the water in our lakes and all of our safety while on the lakes. Additionally, the website offers a convenient way to collect membership dues and any contributions towards the various projects the Association is undertaking. (Yes, that was a thinly veiled and absolutely shameless plug for donations) The activities of the Association affect all of us on the lakes, and we should all play a part in making sure our waters are safe and clean.
Continuing the theme that participation makes our association more effective, it’s important that every lake owner gets involved in our meetings so that we can become a stronger association on the issues we face. Please make a note of the meetings we have scheduled and let us know what the issues you feel strongly about are. WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU THIS YEAR! These are the issues we see:
- Funneling - or the practice of docks being installed on lake access ramps that handle excessive boats. This is leading to dramatic overcrowding on our lakes.
- Water quality; is it improving or declining? Our annual tests are helping us answer this question.
- Weeds- how should we handle them? Do we poison, cut or forget them?
- Interactions with other Associations.
This year all requests for guest speakers or issues will go through the secretary to be put on the agenda so that we can keep control of the time of the meetings. Please call Mary Gluski at ( 517) 639-5601 or e-mail at secretary@marblechainoflakes.org. Mary will need your name, phone number, subject and time you will need. You may contact any of the Association Officers at the web siteWWW.MARBLECHAINOFLAKES.ORG at anytime.
